Legal Intern Program
The Smithsonian Institution Office of the Inspector General (OIG) seeks law students to participate in its legal intern program in Washington, DC. This program is ideal for law students pursuing a career in criminal justice, government and nonprofit oversight, legislative affairs, and administrative investigations. Legal interns will report to the Counsel to the Inspector General and gain experience with all OIG responsibilities, including audit and investigative work.
About the Smithsonian OIG
The Smithsonian is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums, 14 education and research centers, and the National Zoo. It was founded in 1846 to increase and diffuse knowledge.
Smithsonian OIG is a dynamic and exciting place to learn and work. We take pride in creating a collegial, collaborative, and supportive working environment. We have a relatively small team, which would allow legal interns to hone and expand their skills by working on a wide variety of assignments.
Legal interns will also have the opportunity to have unique Smithsonian experiences. OIG staff participate in behind-the-scenes visits to Smithsonian programs and operations, attend Smithsonian’s staff-only events to preview popular exhibitions, and interact with leading experts on varied subjects.
